2016…The Year of Outrage

I am outraged about outrage. C’mon people we have become professional ‘Do-Gooders’ where the default emotion for everyone about every topic is, you guessed it…OUTRAGE.

Are we not tired of jumping on the bandwagon of political correctness, bad sportmanship, feminism, equal opportunity, minority groups, bad parenting, immigration, misleading advertising, animal rights, land rights, unfair dismissal, discrimination, etc..etc…The time we waste debating this stuff is incredible.

*True story – The other day I saw a guy walking across the pedestrian crossing at the traffic lights at the bottom of the freeway ‘shaving in public with a cordless shaver’…. I am outraged! Here we have somebody doing ‘personal grooming’ in public for all to see.

What kind of example is this renegade setting for society by nonchalantly wielding a dangerous ‘blade’ in a public space where one wrong move could see him or someone else getting hurt?

People in their cars pulled out their phones to take video and report this ‘madman’ to the social media police and plaster his face all over the internet. Maybe we should get the CCTV footage and report all the people that touched their phones and fine them for using a communication device in a stationery vehicle with their ignition on? Maybe we should check they are wearing their seatbelt and paid their motor registration while we are at it? Do they have a child restraint in the backseat that is approved by the Australian Safety standards?

What if the ‘shaver man’ trips and falls due to inattention and injures himself? Will he have a claim against the council? What if he cleans his shaver in public and blows his disgusting facial hair into public air and it blows on somebody? How dare he do something that no-one else in society is doing! Is he a public nuisance that is distracting drivers attention from the road rules? What would Waleed Aly from the tv show ‘The Project’ think about this situation?..maybe I better wait to see what he says before i make up my own mind?

My point?…..Let’s loosen up people. We can look at every situation from a million angles and be outraged. Let’s go back to being relaxed and carefree Aussies that watch the world go by.The world used to love us for being that way, and we were famous for it.

“She’ll be right, Mate”, “No Worries”…..
