Save the Last Dance for Me

Young newlyweds Shani and Earl broke from tradition and made the effort to visit Dad’s nursing home (in their wedding clothes) the day after their wedding for a very special dance with Dad.

This very intimate moment made a lasting impression on the Mother’s Day of the Partington, Gusscott and Dansie families and did not leave a dry eye in the house.

This once in a lifetime event also touched the hearts of over 30 residents and carers having their lunch.

Not many things can distract the residents from eating their food, but this unique show stopping moment certainly did:-)

This video illustrates the positive power of music on people with Dementia and the warmth shared by caring families who visit them.

Congratulations Shani and Earl for making a difference to other people’s lives and creating a wedding moment that none of us will ever forget. Your care and compassion is to be applauded and is a really positive start to your marriage.

Congratulations must also go to Dad for performing the only wedding dance in the world whilst holding a comb:-)

This is Dementia…

PS – I can see why I became the drummer of the family, the timing of some of that clapping could do with some serious work
