Australia Day Celebrations – Woodside Style

Australia Day Celebrations (Woodside Style) Congratulations to Karate Sensei Gary Finch who received an award for his work in the community and his stance against domestic violence against women. A great role model for our boys. I was so tempted to yell out a “C’mon Power!” straight after the national anthem like we will at the 2015 AFL Grand Final:-) Was getting worried when I thought we had to sing the 2nd verse of the Australian National Anthem.

Tough Love for the Modern Teenager

TOUGH LOVE in the Partington Household today! My teenage boys have been sleeping in up till midday through the holidays. We thought we needed to get their body clocks ready for school next week, so we had a practice at getting up at 6.30am today so they can catch the bus by themselves. As expected, both boys slept in till 8am(when their bus would be leaving) I decided to teach them a lesson. I burst into their rooms with a megaphone, sounding an ‘air raid ‘ siren at full…

Max Leaves Note to Parents

Reply Letter to my 12yo son Max!: Dear Max, I have spotted your note on our home office door and I cant believe I actually didn’t disturb you on your holidays as you must be so busy “livestreaming” (whatever that is?). I gather you are burning up our family internet data allocation and putting load on our modem etc making every electronic device in the house run slow. We can no longer download movies on Apple TV anymore due to all the rubbish (games) you and your brother are putting…

Bagging a Bargain at Half the Price!

Can someone please explain ” LADY LOGIC” to me??? Tanya proudly came home with a new handbag last night and said she picked up a bargain at ‘half price’. I said ” Why was it reduced? …Is there a fault?” Tanya said ” the only fault is that it doesn’t open properly” ( it opens ‘half way’ – refer pic) I said ” but isn’t that the whole purpose of a bag…to be able to open it to put things in?” Tanya said “I guess so, but I will just…

Partington Boys Road Trip – Day 4

Adventure Day I took the lads for a wild walk to the bottom of Mt Shank Volcano. They were disappointed there was no lava but I sold it to them that we can make a word (Hi!) with some limestone rocks at the bottom and view it from the rim. ( a bit lame, but needed a distraction to avoid the whinging) A kangaroo jumped out of nowhere along the track (freaking us out), and we saw a snake on the road nearby. Checked out Little Blue Lake where teenagers…

Partington Boys Road Trip – Day 3

Learning Day Today we were cavemen – went into both Tantanoola & Princess Margaret Rose Caves. The boys were surprised at how much they enjoyed the caves. They especially liked Princess Margaret Rose Caves as it was very deep down and had a lot more interesting features. Rule to remember Stalactites – ” hold on tight (hang down) stalagmites – ” might get to the top one day”  (bottom). Helictites go sideways. We did plenty of sightseeing including Blue Lake ( for 3 minutes), Umpherston Sinkhole to feed possums and…

Partington Boys Road Trip – Day 2

Driving & Action Day A ‘Bucking’ Good Time Had By All A Day in the life of a cowboy!….Mt Gambier Rodeo. Had an amazing experience tonight with the lads by scoring the closest vantage point to the bulls and broncos (without actually riding them). Met a former rodeo promoter that got us a position right between the judges near chute 6, and on the gate where the riders walk through after they have been bucked off. Was incredible to feel the power of the 900kg – 1000kg bulls smashing into…
