No Need for a Love Coach

Last night my youngest son ‘Casanova Max’ (12 yo) was asked to the movies (pitch perfect 2) by his new girlfriend of 3 days. He was double dating some ‘denim short wearing’ young ladies ( it was 3 degrees!!!) with his mate from school, plus one extra boy tagged along. After I dropped the kids home we had a family de-brief at the dinner table. Tanya asked Max “Did you kiss your new girlfriend?…He said “My mate kept trying to get me to kiss her, but I didn’t”. I thought…

50 Years of Wedded Bliss

Big Congratulations to Mum & Dad on their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Good Friday. Outstanding achievement in these times. I can honestly say that I have never seen them argue once with each other, and the Partington/Rodger clan are so lucky to have them as parents and grandparents. This has been a big year for Bob & Jan and I am in awe of the way Mum has handled Dad’s illness. Our families are rallying around them both, and I wanna send a big ‘shout out’…

Club Med (Bali) – Inside Scoop Into What Really Goes on . . .

To enter Club Med is a bit like going to heaven, but with a buffet for every meal. From the minute you enter the club, your happiness is paramount and everyone is paid to ensure you stay that way. We were picked up at the airport by a Balinese man with a club med sign looking for ‘The Partingtons’ – 15 minutes drive and we are greeted by our first ‘ GO’ ( Gentle Organiser) who are the people who make sure you have a good time by organising your…

Bali Highlights – A ‘4 Hand’ Massage is Twice the Fun

Everyone has had a massage at some point….but are we truly satisfied? So I decided to step things up a bit by extending myself to indulge in the ultimate manly experience on the massage menu –  the “4 hand massage”! I silently thought  “two ladies have gotta be better than one…it’s only $11 Aust ….I’m on holidays….so why not?” (not that I needed much to convince myself). I decided to visit the Carla Spa in Nusa Dua which always has about 10 young ladies sitting out the front in red outfits ready…

Bali Highlights – Rapid Descent Down The River

We headed 2 hours north for the Agung Mountain, to join the Talaga Waja White Water Rafting Company. Our driver Wayan once again sorted us ‘ best friend’ price which we were not allowed to tell anyone else, it was so good. I imagine it was tourist pricing and actually higher than everywhere else (450,000 rupiah/ $45 AUD each). We had to buy some rafting sandals for 2000 rupiah ($2) to ensure we did not get cuts from the rocks and bamboo. Max was a bit nervous and spent an…

Bali Highlights – “Yes Boss… Bintang?, Me Give You Good Price”

Kuta Beach is the Aussie home away from home. The market stalls are full of cheap rubbish and every stall is exactly the same as the next. Local people man the stalls, some of them asleep waiting till they hear footsteps and instinctively yell out ” Yes Boss, Bintang, very cheap, me give you good price”. This mantra is echoed every two metres with stall holders trying to find new ways to engage us. The locals try to put on an Aussie accent and say “g’day mate” or yell out…

Bali Highlights – More Aussies Go Directly To Jail

Kerobokan Jail in Bali that is… This jail is considered one of the most notorious prisons in the world. Former home to Schapelle Corby, and current home for the infamous Bali 9 (minus 2). I have always had a fascination for prisons and are my favourite genre of movie. I nearly had the opportunity recently to visit Yatala Jail in Adelaide, but missed out by a few days when the person I was to visit was transferred to Cadell Low Security Prison. All the local drivers know Schapelle Corby’s story…

Another Partington Showing Progress

The ‘Stone of Progress’ is a sacred part of the Westminster School culture where it is tradition for students to showcase their artistic talents and creativity on a tile that is there for the life of the school to inspire others upon their educational journey. Look at the ‘masterpiece’ highly decorated House Captain Jason Partington left behind 27 years ago and is still there to this day…..Clown! 🙂 Only my brother Jason would use a sculptured time capsule for self promotion and free advertising!
