Basketball Ring Assembly Update

The Partingtons have now passed the 24 hour mark in the assembly of our new basketball inspired garden statue. This project has been lead by T. Partington as foreperson, and 2IC B. Partington . We so far have the main poles inserted incorrectly, can no longer remove them, and have re-drilled 4 new backboard holes as corrective action.. We have now missed Max’s birthday and we are still struggling! … We finished by the following night!

The ‘Real Story’ on the Rodger Family (AFL Grand Final Edition)

Back in June I was given an AFL Grand Final ticket for my birthday by my sister – ‘Eastern Suburbs Jane’ (ESJ). I thought it was a very kind gesture indeed. Little did I know there was a catch!… The catch was I had to meet up with their family in Melbourne and experience a snapshot of holiday life – the Rodger Family way. ‘Eastern Suburbs Jane’ (ESJ) – and her husband Simon Rodger live life like the ‘Imperial Leather soap advert’ from the 70’s ( the one on the…

48 Hour – ‘Bloke Blitz’

What ya thinking?….beer, snags, sport, bar room brawls? Not quite, this time. Wanted to bond 1-on-1 with my nearly 15yo son Zak, and learn all about him at close range before he heads back to school. Our plan was to do as much guy stuff as we can in ‘48 hours’ and record it on our new GoPro Hero 4 Silver video camera. The aim was to simply let our surroundings take us wherever, and create a doco style movie as a team. The only rules were that we had…

Rabbits in the Headlights – A Dad Story

Casanova Max was ‘hanging out’ with new girlfriend, Hannah, at her place recently. Her Dad dropped Max back to our house late at night, and I went outside to wave from the front door. Hannah’s Dad stayed in the car as the two lovebirds were on the driveway between the two Dads. The very bright driveway sensor light went on and we had a ‘standoff’. Things got awkward because the lovebirds were looking to have a ‘hug’ and Max was gesturing for me to go inside. I was oblivious to…

Is this the Fussiest Person in Australia?

The person below ( let’s call her ‘Eastern Suburbs Jane’) now orders her ham & cheese focaccia’s by HEIGHT! She asked me to buy her a 19mm high focaccia that she always get from the same shop. The guy in the shop thought I was insane, and regretfully advised he was outta stock. He decided to grab a thicker focaccia and remove a few millimetres from top and bottom of the inferior focaccia and said ” she wont know the difference”. I beg to differ. Upon my return with lunch…

What Comes First?….The Chicken or the Egg?

After the recent episode with our frisky 12yo son Max being caught ‘manhandling’ the girls at school with hugs, I am not sure that a sex education lesson two days later is appropriate!:-) I am also reminded of the time back at Max’s old primary school when we attended a sex education night as a family. Max was very enthusiastic this night with the Q & A section and would shoot his hand up as high as he could almost begging to be asked to answer each question. The educator…

12 Inches of Temptation

Our youngest 12yo son ‘ Casanova Max’ is up to his old tricks again. We received the text below from Max in regard to breaking Rule 34a of the School Student Code of Conduct. Max had breached the 30cm student ‘exclusion’ zone by stealing hugs at lunchtime with one of the young ladies. I like the way he pleads ignorance to breaching the rule when less than 24 hours before he told us the rule and was proudly boasting of 4 hugs in a lunch session. We are getting real value…

Save the Last Dance for Me

Young newlyweds Shani and Earl broke from tradition and made the effort to visit Dad’s nursing home (in their wedding clothes) the day after their wedding for a very special dance with Dad. This very intimate moment made a lasting impression on the Mother’s Day of the Partington, Gusscott and Dansie families and did not leave a dry eye in the house. This once in a lifetime event also touched the hearts of over 30 residents and carers having their lunch. Not many things can distract the residents from…
