Clapham Primary Reunion
Clapham Reunion – “The Details…..”
Our year was the most represented at the reunion by an absolute mile. I think we had 25 – 30 people attend .
The night started off with the usual reunion photographs around the room that none of us had time to look at (except the very dedicated Julie Campbell). I think this reunion had more raffles going than people attending. B. Milner and D.Wardle were winners from our year.
The nerves were evident early and a few people appeared a little “toey”. We found each other very quickly and the trick was to spot people early to avoid having to look at the other person’s name tag…lol.
Everyone pretty much looked the same as they did at school and we were all pretty respectful early. As the drink package moved along – people started to loosen up. B.Milner started getting noisy, and D.Badran was throwing out the big one liners. Carmen Hill used the evening to take revenge on yours truly for the many school yard comments I made about her about being a child star!. She made it quite clear that I was in for some “payback”….:)
Some people from the school tried to make speeches – and were pretty much drowned out by the raucous chattering and laughing. The cameras started to come out and Donna Worley was in just about all of them. If she wasn’t taking them – she was ‘front and centre’ in them…:) The stories were really flowing now and there was some ‘hot’ schoolyard stories discussed that cannot be repeated on Facebook (lol) as well as a lot of great memories. The carpeted areas, The Olive Tree, The ropes, The Maintenance Shed and The Dungeon at school, were some fond memories for many.
I disgraced myself with a very public drink spillage all over Sue Harris’ dress. With 15 minutes till the finish of the reunion B.Milner ordered several rounds of drinks for everyone, to ensure we got value for money!…lol . B.Connor was getting vocal now and dominated the group with some fantastic stories and even a few sordid ones about his dalliances with several young ladies back in the old school days:) Brian then set the tone for the after party by declaring “We are off to the Griffins Head – and I will have a $5 tab on the bar!”
An un-named classmate was refused service at the first pub due to intoxication..:)The dancing started after this and the doof doof was getting a bit boring, so Carmen and Sue decided to request “Tainted Love”. This proved to be a winner and everyone got the moves happening.. We danced the night away and pretty much ran out of bands and venues to attend. It was a great night – and the fact most people partied on was a great example of what a terrific group we had at Clapham. Thanks to all who attended and I hope this fills in some gaps for our friends who were unable to attend.

Memorable Quotes of the night:
Anthony Booth is much better looking now than he was at school. …C.Hill (He must of been a shocker at school!)
“Who’s up for it?”….B.Milner
“I have no idea who you are???”…A.Booth (as he was re- introduced to the Principal Geoff Gapper)
“I was never in trouble at school -that’s probably why I don’t know you!”. A.Booth to Principal
“Mark is certainly punching above his weight!” B.Partington to Shaun Ledson in regard to Mark’s partner/wife
“You look exactly the same as you did at school – just with no hair!” C.Hill to B. Partington
“That suit looks so Mafia”..B.Connor hissing at B.Partington….
Quote of the night was from The Bouncer at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow pub who was watching carefully as Brian staggered around and decided to go home as the rest of us entered the pub and he said “now there is a man who has just made a very wise decision before he is formally refused entry!”
Cheers!
